Course File: Core Evidence Container
The Course File is the primary evidence package for each course section, demonstrating how Student Outcomes are assessed and how continuous improvement is implemented. ABET evaluators rely heavily on well-organized course files during program evaluation visits.
Essential Contents:
- Syllabus: Course description, learning outcomes mapped to SOs, assessment methods, grading policy
- Assessment Tasks: Assignments, exams, projects with clear instructions and rubrics
- Rubric Scores: Completed rubrics showing student performance on each PI
- Student Samples: Representative work samples across performance levels (high, medium, low)
- Instructor Notes: Reflections on student performance, challenges, and improvement actions
- Moderation Records: Evidence of rubric calibration and inter-rater reliability checks
Why it matters: A complete course file demonstrates systematic assessment, provides evidence for SO attainment calculations, supports CQI decisions, and shows transparency in grading and evaluation processes.
