Short, ABET‑aligned definitions for consistent use across documents and Moodle.
| Term | Meaning (as used in this portal) |

| PEO | Program Educational Objective: what graduates are expected to achieve within a few years after graduation (reviewed with constituencies). |
| SO | Student Outcome: what students can do by the time of graduation. For ABET CAC (IS), SO1–SO6 are required. |
| PLO | Program Learning Outcome (program‑specific). Can be kept internally, but must map clearly to ABET SOs. |
| PI | Performance Indicator: a measurable skill statement that breaks an SO into assessable components. |
| Rubric | Scoring tool aligned to a PI (or PI bundle) with defined levels and criteria, used to produce direct assessment data. |
| Direct Assessment | Measures actual student work (assignments, exams, projects) using rubrics or item‑level scoring. |
| Indirect Assessment | Perceptions or opinions (surveys, interviews). Used to complement direct evidence. |
| Attainment / Target | Quantitative performance result and the expected threshold (e.g., % students at or above “Proficient”). |
| CQI | Continuous Quality Improvement: analyzing assessment results, deciding actions, implementing them, and verifying impact (close‑the‑loop). |
| SSR | Self‑Study Report: ABET narrative + tables + appendices demonstrating compliance and CQI evidence. |
| IAB | Industry Advisory Board: external constituency group that validates PEO relevance and provides curriculum recommendations. |
| Evidence Index | A structured list of artifacts (files/links) that back each criterion narrative and table in the SSR. |
